Plot[]

At a wedding reception, a roach named Kage is delivering a speech for the newly married couple. Joann and Jeremy have tied the knot and are a happy newlywed couple.

Jeremy has settled into his position as a nurse at the hospital and is visited by Vinci. Jeremy regrets that Dr. Sullivan died before seeing his character rehabilitation. Vinci assures him that Artie must have known there as good in him to keep him at the hospital. Vinci also congratulates Jeremy, which he's surprised to find out is due to Joann being pregnant. He panics, stumbling onto Dave in the hallway. He gets reassurance and ends up looking forward to being a father.

Driving home, Joann and Jeremy have their first big fight concerning finances, with Jeremy wanting to stay in their apartment because he doesn't think they can afford another bill. They seem to settle up and Jeremy warns that his father raised him in a bigoted, high-strung household. Joann tries to reason that maybe parents are supposed to take the good and bad of their own parents and decide what to do and not do. When Joann asks how Jeremy's father is doing, he says last time they talked, he refused to come to Jeremy's wedding because Joann was Jewish.

Sometime later, Joann is heavily pregnant and they discuss getting a house again. They have to call off their dinner plans when Joann announces it's time. While in the waiting room, Jeremy hears the baby was born stillborn, and he goes to check on his wife, who's crying heavily.

Time passes and Jeremy continues with his work, but Joann is still traumatized and unwilling to leave her home. Jeremy has survivor's guilt, feeling he's being punished for his past bigoted views and how he treated Vinci. His nurse friend Leah convinces him the foolishness of this thinking and that bad things happen to everyone, even good people. She also reminds him that Joann must have seen some good in him from the beginning to stay with him so long.

Returning home, he finds that Joann has attempted suicide by overdosing on pills. At the hospital, her stomach is pumped but she's in a coma. He talks to her, singing their favorite song and she eventually regains consciousness. She says she went to a dark place and that a man with red eyes asked if she was ready to move on. When she said she wasn't, he told her she had to find her own way home. She heard Jeremy's voice and followed it back to being awake.

Months pass and Jeremy is back in the maternity ward waiting to here from Joann. The doctor comes out and tells him she had twins. Going into the room, he find Joann with a boy and a girl, who she names Arloest and Virgil.
